About the Instrument
Developed by Sherbourne and Stewart as part of the RAND Medical Outcomes Study, the MOS-SSS is a widely used multidimensional measure of perceived functional social support.
What It Measures
Four dimensions of social support (emotional/informational, tangible, affectionate, positive social interaction) and an overall support index.
Digital Administration
Delivered electronically through the PROMinsight platform as part of a digital patient-reported outcomes workflow.
Scoring / Reporting
Items are averaged within each subscale and transformed to a 0–100 scale per RAND’s published scoring instructions.
