What is IVI-CAT?
IVI-CAT is a computerized adaptive testing (CAT) system that measures the impact of vision impairment on vision-related quality of life.
The IVI-CAT is based on the original 28-item paper-pencil IVI questionnaire, and the CAT algorithms were developed using data from patients with vision impairment and low vision.
IVI-CAT provides precise measurement vision-related quality of life using only 5–10 items, a reduction in items of 65-82% from the original paper-pencil IVI.

Utilisation
Initial EMR Integration of IVI-CAT at SNEC (2021-2022)
IVI-CAT was implemented in cataract clinics at the Singapore National Eye Centre as part of an initial EMR integration pilot to measure the impact of vision impairment and cataract surgery on vision-related quality of life.
Hybrid Remote Deployment of Eye CATs at SNEC (2024–2025)
Eye-related CATs were implemented at the Singapore National Eye Centre using an automated remote and in-clinic hybrid model, achieving high patient uptake with full integration into the electronic medical record.
