About the Instrument
Developed by Dr. Charles Morin, the ISI is one of the most widely used brief outcome measures for insomnia severity, distributed via Mapi Research Trust.
What It Measures
Severity of sleep-onset, sleep-maintenance, and early-morning-awakening problems, sleep satisfaction, and daytime impact of sleep difficulties.
Digital Administration
Delivered electronically through the PROMinsight platform as part of a digital patient-reported outcomes workflow.
Scoring / Reporting
Seven items are each scored 0–4 and summed to a 0–28 total, with published severity bands from “no clinically significant insomnia” to “severe insomnia.”
