About the Instrument
The WHO-5 was developed by the WHO Collaborating Center for Mental Health and is now owned by the World Health Organization. It is one of the most widely used brief wellbeing measures internationally.
What It Measures
Current subjective psychological wellbeing over the preceding two weeks (positive mood, vitality, and general interest).
Digital Administration
Delivered electronically through the PROMinsight platform as part of a digital patient-reported outcomes workflow.
Scoring / Reporting
Each of the 5 items is scored 0–5; the raw total (0–25) is multiplied by 4 to give a percentage score, with lower scores indicating poorer wellbeing.
Use in Research / Clinical Care / Clinical Trials
Used as a wellbeing screening and outcome tool across primary care, occupational health, and mental health research worldwide.
