Testing responsiveness to treatment
Two of our CATs are part of clinical trials at the Singapore National Eye Centre:
RetCAT is being administered to patients with diabetic macular edema to determine the impact of intravitreal injections on 10 quality of life outcomes
GlauCAT is being used to measure the impact of minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) on 12 QoL outcomes
Other validity testing
Test-retest reliability
Test-retest reliability is a measure of test stability over time. Test scores should remain stable in people who have not undergone treatment interventions.
Accuracy
Accuracy refers to the agreement in scores estimated by CAT vs. the full item bank. CAT scores should be highly correlated with those obtained using the full item bank.
Sensitivity
Compared to generic, non-adaptive ophthalmic PROMs, disease-specific CATs should be more sensitive to detecting change following intervention, resulting in larger effect sizes.
Mode of Administration
Patients will have sufficient vision and resources to complete testing in various locations and/or mediums.
Inter-interviewer reliability
Participants will answer CATs twice by different researchers on the day of recruitment.
