Working with Visibility Scotland to evaluate support services in children with vision impairment
PROMinsight are excited to share their research collaboration with Visibility Scotland, a charity supporting children and adults who are blind or partially sighted and live in Scotland.
Visibility Scotland provide a range of tailored services to support people at various stages of visual impairment to reach their goals and aspirations; however, until now, they haven’t systematically evaluated how their services have impacted their service users’ quality of life.
Funded by a National Lottery Community Fund, Visibility Scotland are rolling out the Impact of Vision Impairment for Children (IVI_C) questionnaire on PROMinsight’s digital platform throughout 2022 and 2023 to evaluate the effectiveness of their support services in this age group.
They intend to use the findings to better understand where their support services are working well, but also to isolate areas where improvements are needed. The findings will be invaluable to guide the refinement of current services and also the development of new resources.
“It’s so important to use a standardised questionnaire to gather high quality data when trying to evaluate the success or otherwise of our services. Using the IVI_C questionnaire provides real confidence in the results,” commented Visibility Scotland’s CEO, Laura Walker.
“The IVI_C covers areas that are really important to our young people with vision impairment, and we are excited to work with Prof Lamoureux and A/Prof Fenwick to implement their tool in our evaluative work at Visibility Scotland”.
